Welcome to this course and to this online introduction to systemic ideas. I hope you find using this page easy and that it gives you a few ideas about systemic practice and leadership before we even meet.
This page is designed with people who do not know much about systemic practice in mind. But if you already know something or quite a bit I hope that it still serves as a useful refresher. This webpage is one part of what you need for your self-directed learning, the other is the workbook (and a pen). Make sure you have it at hand.
Here is a link to the work book…
This self-directed learning course is organised into “short blocks” that should take around 20 minutes. Of course you can stop and start at your own convenience…
First block – welcome and first ideas
In the first video below I introduce myself and some aspects of this page and the self-directed learning. There are some initial thoughts on “systemic”.
Here is a video illustrating the power of any element of a system.
You are coming towards the end of the first “block”. Well done! To round it off, take a look at the video below.
Second block – systems, problems and solutions
Now let’s dig a little deeper…
Here is the short clip of the Simpsons. Have a look and note your ideas.
In this next video I will share my ideas about the Simpsons and link it more to systemic ideas…
You are coming towards the end of the second block. I hope it gave some ideas of systemic practice. See whether you can apply the ideas to a dilemma you are involved with.
Third block –
In this third block we explore some more possible meanings of behaviour.
Fourth (and last) block – Systemic practice and risk
In this block we will explore how systemic practice can contribute to the assessment and management of risk and explore different positions of risk.
In the first video of this block I introduce the domains of action – probably useful way beyond risk and especially in leadership.
In this last video I will introduce different possible positions towards risk before “finishing off”.
Well done! you finished the self directed learning. I am very much looking forward to meeting you in-person and look into some of these concepts and their application deeper and explore how we can practice with this. Would be great if you could bring your workbooks with you.
